Local Election 2012

David Garnett

Conservative Party
North Heywood Ward

I was born in Bury and have lived in the Birtle area of Heywood for the last 28 years. I am now retired after working for a local firm as a packaging designer for 22 years.

I am the Vice-Chairman of The Birtle Trust which looks after the interests of the Green Belt in Birtle. I am also the Vice-Chairman of a national motor club and have been a director for 22 years.

I accepted the challenge to stand as a local candidate to give voters in the Heywood North Ward a chance to vote Conservative in the local elections. Remember, local elections concern local issues, so I’m campaigning on the reduction of the provision of street services which have been savaged by Labour, e.g. street cleaners, street-cleaning, grass-cutting and litter-picking! It has also been proved that untidy streets and run-down areas attract crime. Is that what you want for your Ward? The Conservatives on Council also supported a Council Tax freeze for the second year running.

I believe voting is a way of making your voice heard and I ask that everyone uses his or her vote. A low turnout is not a true representation of the residents of the Ward. It’s no good complaining unless you have taken part!
