Local Election 2014

Michael P Singleton

Michael P Singleton

UK Independence Party
Spotland & Falinge Ward

Why should you vote for me?
Well why should you vote for anyone? How many times have you thought – why bother, they’re all the same! And I agree with you! But that is why I am standing. I am fed up with the mindless drone of politicians that we get year after year, with nothing to choose between them. I am standing for change. I am representing change, but NOT change for changes sake! If you want change then join me by putting an X next to my name.

So, why vote for me?
Because for the first time in living memory there is a real alternative to the “big two”. Someone who will listen to what the people say. I don’t remember anyone asking me if I wanted the river Roache uncovering. I don’t remember anyone asking me if I wanted to spend £50 million on a nice shiny useless office block, or £250 million on re-developing Rochdale centre when they can’t even fill many of the vacant premises in and around Rochdale (this should have been the first port of call). And what a shambles the new Leisure Centre is! Shouldn’t we be spending the money for the benefit of all the people of Rochdale?

On a more mundane level why spend wasted money on “resurfacing” Rooley Moor Road with a layer of “something” that’s lifting off a year later. There must be a hundred other instances of waste and unnecessary expenditure.

I worked as an accountant in industry for almost 40 years. I’ve lived in the same house in Spotland and Falinge for 34 years, and I’ve watched the slow and steady decline in Rochdale’s fortunes, I’ve watched the fiasco over T.B.A, I’ve seen the encampments on the derelict buildings on Ings lane, and I think “enough is enough”, it’s time to stand up and be counted. I will do anything I can to reverse this decline.

Here are a few of my policies;
Cut the council, not our services. We can cut waste, cut Expenses, cut salaries of highly paid Council staff, cut middle management and non-jobs.
Encourage local referenda – it’s time to have YOUR say.
Demand to get a serious grip on our broken roads.
Encourage community activity, voluntary groups, encourage use of community centres.

If you want change, if you want to be heard, then vote for Michael Singleton, Vote UKIP.

If you wish to know more about me and/or UKIP and our policies, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
