Bamford-Fieldhouse 140-2  -  Heyside 126-1 (Away)

Bamford Fieldhouse under 13’s match at Heyside was played on a cold and blustery Sunday morning.  Bamford won the toss & elected to bat first.

The opening partnership of Smith-Butler & Willis continued where they left off the previous week scoring runs at a good rate.  Smith-Butler retired on 30 in the 5th over having faced only 12 deliveries, his knock including 5 fours and a six with the total score having raced on to 48.  Adam Ahmed joined Willis at the crease he too continued his good form from the previous week.  Willis retired in the 11th over with the score on 89, having made an excellent 33, his 2nd retirement in consecutive weeks.

Danny Matthews joined Adam Ahmed at the crease & they continued to keep the score board ticking over until Ahmed was run out having made a patient 20. Ben Garside and Charlie Lloyd Jones both reached double figures in partnerships with Matthews, Garside having hit a six and a four in his 11 before being bowled by Heaton. Lloyd Jones ended on 11 not out & Matthews finished on 18 not out.  Bamfords innings closed on 140 for 2 off their 20 overs.

Any thoughts Bamford may have entertained of another easy win were soon forgotten as the Heyside opening batsmen of Price & Robinson, aided by some wayward Bamford bowling, both retired on 30 and 33 not out respectively and at the half way point of their innings Heyside had reached 70 for the loss of no wickets, so it was definitely a case of game on! Thouy, Darlington and Graham all batted well with Darlington reaching 20 not out.
The match was only decided on the 4th ball of the final over when it became mathematically impossible for the home side to win.

Heyside finished on 126 for 1, the pick of the Bamford bowlers was Smith-Butler with figures of 1-9 off his 4 overs. Matthews also worked hard to keep the scoring down finishing with 0-18 from his 4 overs.

Bamford's batting was once again excellent but the bowling & fielding against a good Heyside team, with the odd exception, was far too loose. This was a high scoring, exciting game played in good spirits with Bamford just about coming out on top to keep their good start to the season going with 2 wins from 2 matches.
