Saddleworth & District Cricket League Under 13s Cup - Round 2
Bamford-Fieldhouse 164-5 - Stalybridge St. Pauls 33 all out (Away)
Bamford Fieldhouse’s re-arranged second round cup match with Stalybridge St. Pauls was played on an overcast Friday evening.
Bamford won the toss and elected to bat first, Joe Smith-Butler and Alex Willis getting them off to their usual flying start. Smith-Butler retired after the second ball of the third over making 31 not out off ten balls including seven 4’s.
Danny Matthews joined Willis and they put on a partnership of 39 in under four overs before Matthews was caught by his own captain who was sub-fielding for Stalybridge.
Willis retired in the next over for a very well made 32 including five 4’s and a 6.
The Bamford innings closed on 164 – 5 with useful contributions from Connor Wright (19), Callum Belfield (13) & Charlie Lloyd-Jones 23 not out, Adam Deaville also finished not out 9.
Once again Bamford chose to give all their outfielders a bowl with the young Stalybridge side finding runs hard to come by against some accurate bowling from Bamford.
Alex Willis took 2 for 3 whilst Adam Ahmed for the second time this season took 3 wickets for no runs.
Stalybridge were finally all out in the nineteenth over for 33. This was a good strong all round performance seeing Bamford through to the semi-finals where they will no doubt meet considerably stronger opposition.
