Introduction

Kashmir Development Foundation (KDF) is one of the leading indigenous Kashmiri development organisations working for community development and empowering the voice of the underrepresented people and communities in the United Kingdom and Jammu Kashmir a. It has been in existence since 2000 and was initially set up by a small group of individuals working for and on behalf of the Kashmiri community in Britain who recognised the need for a foundation to provide support and funding to the projects in Pakistan administered (Azad) Jammu Kashmir and its Diaspora in the UK. Since then KDF has grown considerably and has been registered in England and Wales as a Charity Registration No.114389 and Company No. 05664890; and as a NGO (Non-Governmental Organisation) with the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Registration No 058485.

Mission

Kashmir Development Foundation exists to empower the Voice of the under-represented people and communities in Jammu and Kashmir, and Kashmiri Diaspora in UK, Europe and elsewhere.

For the achievement of KDF vision and mission we believe in; Working with the people to prevent or relieve poverty and campaigning for peace and social justice, participatory governance, equality and human rights, and sustainable development; supporting community development initiatives and partnerships to improve peoples’ quality of life, social mobility and wellbeing; and delivering training, engagement, research and enterprise solutions for all sectors.

Aims and Objective
Kashmir Development Foundation aims (‘objects’) are;

a) To Develop the capacity and skills of the members of the socially and economically disadvantaged community of Jammu and Kashmir in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society;

b) To Advance the education of the general public in the history and culture of Jammu and Kashmir;

c) The prevention or relief of poverty in Jammu and Kashmir by providing: Grants, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty.
