Intro
Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) is a not-for-profit company, responsible for managing council homes on behalf of Rochdale Council. It is wholly owned by the council, but managed by a board of directors made up of six tenant members, four council members and three independent advisors.
RBH was set up in 2002 and has since spent around £130M on bringing the borough's homes up to the Government's Decent Standard well ahead of schedule. Millions more are to be invested over the next five years with environmental improvements, a top priority. RBH manages around 14,500 properties and provides all the landlord services to these properties.
A key element of the ongoing environmental improvements and the daily management of the properties is the correct purchase of:
- All materials
- Equipment
- Services
As with any public body RBH must ensure that it obtains value for money from every purchase, taking into account the full life cycle cost of the item or service.
In addition to this RBH will also be taking into account how the money it spends with suppliers can help support the local economy. To this end RBH would like to encourage local Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to participate in its tenders.
