What we've done 2011/12

International Service:

1. 600 Rotary Shoe boxes have been filled by a number of Primary Schools & other organisations
2. Mikoroshoni Primary School. Mombasa. Kenya, received £500 as its share of our very successful whisky tasting evening last December
3. The rain water rock catchment project, Thraka, Kenya. Our money was supported by the rotary club of Salt Lake city in USA.
4. Rotary Foundation received the other half of the profit (£500) from whisky tasting evening.
5. A decreasing number of Stamps and Glasses was collected.
6. The Kajuki Irrigation project, South Meru, Kenya has been surveyed. The cost's so far of equipment and surveys is £899,50.
7. The Race night held in March raised £820 for the President’s charity (RNLI) 

Community Service:

We take Father Christmas on his sleigh around the streets of Middleton to collect for local charities and community groups and he was also on duty at Sainsbury’s (Heaton Park) for two Friday mornings. We accumulated a total of £5,370.75!

Rotary Foundation:

How did we do? The plan was:
1. To contribute £50 per member. We gave £1414

2. To increase sustaining members. No Increase!
3. To raise funds for Polio Plus. We gave £70

4. Donations instead of C/Mas cards. Raised £40 3 to attend Dist. Found. Dinner. 7 attended

5. Members to donate £10 to Found. 19 did!

6. Encourage applications for District Grants. Done!

Membership & Publicity Achievements 2011/12:

1. Dragon’s Den - for Community Groups to tell us why they needed donations and what it would be spent on
2. Community Forum - grew out of the Dragon's Den, where groups can swop ideas, share information, seek advice, help and support 
3. Increase in membership - done! 
4. Website - improve the information on the site
5. Facebook Page -  start a page

New Ideas committee:

1. The option to pay annual subs in instalments.
2. Scatter nights to different Rotary Clubs – Astley, Heywood, Rochdale.
3. Meeting at other venues on Bank Holiday weeks (eg. Success To The Plough) or scattering to other clubs.
4. To have a girlie/summer fundraising event – the Cocktail Evening 16th June.
5. Compile a Glossary of Rotary terms – Blue Folder
6. This Is Me speeches to be given on a Friend’s Night.
7. A proposal to reintroduce Business Meetings.
8. A proposal to reintroduce round tables at meetings along with seating discs.
9. A proposal to award a £50 prize to the Young Citizen of the Year along with a certificate.
10. To move from a monthly meeting to one per quarter. 

Club Admin:

1. Support President & Smooth running of the club
2. Arrange social and Fellowship events
3. Arrange major club events.
4. Participate in District/Local functions e.g. Quiz
5. Arrange for attendance at District Conference 2012
6. Provide Information via Bulletin and Calendar
7. Ensure the Clubs project meet all H&S requirements
8. Monitor and report on Club attendance
9. Maintain Club Asset Register
