Water Colour Painting

This is the fourth year of having a Water Colour class at the base and it continues to go from strength to strength, with new students joining the group on a weekly basis, each week the students go home with a painting, whilst they are concentrating on painting there isn’t a sound but when they arrive, leave or stop for a break then it is an opportunity to socialise. It is a warm and friendly group that welcomes new people who soon feel they have always been there. This year we have welcomed several new students to the class and overall the standard of work is improving greatly. Again, several members have been confident enough to display their paintings at Touchstones which is a great advert for the class. Hopefully; some may sell their work which would be a great morale booster.

Quite a number of students have already sold their work privately to friends and acquaintances whilst others have painted landscapes which they have given as gifts to members of their families the group have also ventured into painting greetings cards. This is a great way to send an original watercolour painting as a gift. The recipients can then frame the card resulting in a lovely reminder of a special occasion. During the summer we were invited to display our work at Syke Chapel and we also had a stand at Rochdale Craft Fair.

The tutor says she is always impressed that students manage to get to the class whatever the weather with classes of twelve to fourteen the norm. They turn up in rain, hail or snow but always manage to have a great couple of hours with lots of laughs. We are always looking for new members, so if anyone wants to join our class, everyone is welcome - Just turn up. No previous painting experience is required and you will learn to paint stunning landscapes using quick and clever techniques.
