An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Home Improvement Agency (HIA) within Rochdale council’s award winning Adult Care Service. You will join a committed, hard-working team in a challenging and rewarding role, offering a sense of achievement in helping to deliver a service that we are proud of. The HIA is part of the Governance and Business Support team, which covers a range of functions, including Governance, Performance and Quality, Client Financial Support and the Home Improvement Agency. 

This post will based within the Home Improvement Agency working with a small team of Building Adaptations Officers delivering the Disabilities Facilities Grant (DFG) programme and other associated adaptations. Tasks will include carrying out assessments on properties to determine what adaptations are possible to meet assessed needs, producing plans, specifications and schedules of works, undertaking work in progress visits and arranging for payments to be made for completed works.  You will liaise with a variety of stakeholders such as the service user or their representative, providers, contractors and Occupational Therapists.

You will need to be an excellent communicator, be adaptable, pro-active and flexible in your approach and be able to work at pace under pressure.  You must be able to use your own initiative, and should have excellent organisational and IT skills.  You will also need strong case management skills and an extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations.  In return we can offer flexible working conditions, 23 days holiday and the opportunity for training.  The team is based in our state of the art offices in the centre of Rochdale.
