Details:

Rochdale Judo Club is launching an adult (over 14 years) beginners' course for males and females on Thursday (29 June).

The classes will run from 6.30-7.30pm and will be coached by Dave Duffy Sixth Dan.

Club Chairman Warren Schofield (Seventh Dan) said: “There is nobody better placed than Dave to introduce people to our great sport, he has after all put in a great deal of coaching hours over the years.”

Dave was employed full time by the British Judo Association tasked with the writing, endorsement and launch of the UK Coaching Certificate for Judo.

He is retained as a qualified tutor, assessor and internal verifier and as such is at the forefront of Coach Education within Judo.

Warren added: “The club has long been aware that its more seasoned coaches are best placed to coach beginners as they embed correct technique from day one and prevent bad habits being engrained which are subsequently hard to correct further down the line.”

The classes are priced £5 per lesson for non-members, £4 for Rochdale Judo Club members.

For younger children, Eddie Thomas (Second Dan) is the coach/teacher from 6.30pm-7.30pm on Tuesday and Friday at Rochdale Judo Club.

Eddie is a retired primary head teacher and teaches children from six years to 15 years, assisted by Hussam Khalil (First Kyu).

All children welcome from six years and above, members £4, non-members £5, free chilled water at every session.

Entry fee: Classes are priced £5 per lesson for non-members, £4 for Rochdale Judo Club members.
