Coordinated by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), with support from many local walking groups and charities, Greater Manchester Walking Week aims to showcase all that the region has to offer on foot. The event’s calendar features many expert-led walks, catering to a variety of interests and themes for all ages and abilities.

A walk from Healey corner towards Watergrove reservoir, skirt the lower path to the north of Brown Wardle, go in the direction of Whitworth Road. Cross to go up a track past a large chimney, down to Cown Park Reservoir, round Cown Park reservoir, up a slope and down into a little village with a pond at the north of Healey Dell. Through Healey Dell and back to Healey Corner.

No matter whether you’re a stroller, roamer, shuffler, moocher or a marcher the Greater Manchester Walking Festival has something for you. Back bigger and better for the fifth year, it runs from Wednesday 1 to Friday 31 May, and offers guided walks exploring towns, cities, the countryside, canals, riversides and parks across Greater Manchester.
In 2019, the aim of the event is to encourage residents of Greater Manchester to rediscover their local area, reconnect with their friends and neighbours and to get out and about more.
