Details:

John Craven OBE has been lighting up our screens since John Craven’s Newsround began in 1972, the first news programme in the world to report directly to children. He is currently a firm favourite on the rural and environmental current affairs programme Countryfile, and his many accolades include BAFTAs, TV Times Awards, a place on the Children’s List of 100 All Time Greats, and of course, who could forget the moment he was presented with the Big Red Book by Michael Aspel on This Is Your Life in 2000?

There is very little John hasn’t done over his career, and he even had a number 1 hit, joining other untrained voices from the world of television, sport and theatre as part of Gareth Malone’s All Star Choir for Children in Need.

John will be your guide on an evening walk down memory lane as he introduces his long-awaited autobiography, Headlines and Hedgerows. This will be a special event, and a unique opportunity to hear from the legendary broadcaster himself.

Suitable for: Families (children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult)

The festival box office is located at Touchstones Rochdale. Open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm.

Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival is aimed at celebrating and promoting the Maskew Collection of classic literature and philosophy at Rochdale Central Library, encouraging people to engage with books and ideas. Rochdale couple, Annie and Frank Maskew, met in Rochdale Library in the 1950s and shared a passion for reading and thinking. They left a sum of money to be used on resources and events related to literature and philosophy to ensure classic works are available for future generations.

Entry fee: Book in advance - £10
