Details:

Join the first ever Children’s Laureate for an extraordinary Book Club at Rochdale Sixth Form College Theatre.

It’s over 30 years since Anne Fine’s classic novel, Madame Doubtfire, was published and later adapted into the blockbuster film starring Robin Williams as 'Mrs Doubtfire'. To celebrate, she will be hosting a Book Club at our very own Rochdale Sixth Form College, where attendees will be able to ask questions and get into discussion with the author about the book, her career, and her upcoming novels.

Anne Fine began writing during a snowstorm when she could not get to the library to change her library books. She has since won nearly every literary award for children in the UK, and many of them more than once. Anne is a tireless advocate for books, libraries and reading.

Have you read Madame Doubtfire? No? Well, that simply won’t do, Dears!! Book now to find out about getting your hands on one of a limited number of FREE copies.

Your ticket for Anne Fine’s Book Club includes entry to the screening of Mrs Doubtfire, which will follow shortly after. This film is rated 12A and children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Suitable for: 8+ (Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult)

The festival box office is located at Touchstones Rochdale. Open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm.

Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival is aimed at celebrating and promoting the Maskew Collection of classic literature and philosophy at Rochdale Central Library, encouraging people to engage with books and ideas. Rochdale couple, Annie and Frank Maskew, met in Rochdale Library in the 1950s and shared a passion for reading and thinking. They left a sum of money to be used on resources and events related to literature and philosophy to ensure classic works are available for future generations.

Entry fee: Book in advance - £8
