The East Lancashire Railway will play host to the most iconic steam engine in history - when Flying Scotsman returns to its tracks this summer.

Locomotive No. 60103, Flying Scotsman was built in 1923 and famously became the first locomotive to travel at 100 miles per hour.

Steam enthusiasts and families alike can look forward to a fantastic weekend at the end of summer when East Lancashire Railway host the locomotive across these new dates:

  • Sunday 29 August
  • Monday 30 August
  • Friday 3 September
  • Saturday 4 September
  • Sunday 5 September

Tickets and seats must be booked in advance, and are valid for one return journey between Bury and Rawtenstall in a reserved seat.

Tickets for this event, and times of when the locomotive departs (click the PDF download), can be found on the link below.

Please note: Passengers who booked tickets for the Easter weekend can transfer to the new dates listed above. Existing Bury to Heywood ticket holders will also receive a complimentary upgrade to the higher priced Bury to Rawtenstall trip.

If social distancing regulations allow, ticket holders will also receive complimentary access to two more special train services which will be announced in due course.
