DETAILS:

The Royal Oldham Hospital is inviting local residents and trust members to join them for a free talk to find out more about the Pharmacy service.

The free talk is one of a series of Medicine for Members events, which are intended to give local residents an insight into key elements of the hospital’s daily work.

The Pharmacy talk will take place on Thursday 20 June, 2pm – 3pm in the Education Centre at The Royal Oldham Hospital, hosted with Mark Livingstone, Head of Pharmacy and members of the Pharmacy team.

The talk will give people the chance to find out more about medicines, prescribing and the pharmacy services provided by Pennine Acute.

The presentation will provide an overview of the Pharmacy services, the role of the Pharmacist and Pharmacy technician, and how technology supports the work of a modern Pharmacy service.  The Trust spends over £50 million a year on medicines, dispensing over 1.1 million items per year.

Mark Livingstone said:  "The event will give people the opportunity to learn more about the hospital Pharmacy service, the role of the Trust's pharmacy team, and the part that Pharmacy plays in the patient pathway.

"Medicines have been around for thousands of years and are still the most common health intervention. It is important that patients are aware of the correct way to take the medicines prescribed for them in order to get the maximum benefit.”
