DETAILS:

Rochdale Borough Council is holding its annual information and advice day for residents with hearing, sight and speech problems.

On Wednesday 14 August anyone living with a sensory impairment can attend a free event, held at Number One Riverside in Rochdale, to find out more about the range of sensory services provided by the council’s adult care team.

There will be stalls packed with information, free hearing screenings, sensory equipment demonstrations, the chance to meet adult care’s sensory support team, and much more.

Sensory experts will be on hand throughout the day to answer people’s questions and offer advice and support.

A range of innovative new assistive technology gadgets, which help increase people’s independence in their homes, will also be showcased at the event.

Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed, cabinet member for adult care services, said: “The council has a fantastic team in adult care, working tirelessly to support and help people with sensory needs. This is a great opportunity for people with a sensory need to find out more about the high-quality services, help and advice we have available throughout the year. I am sure it will be another interesting and informative day."

The free sensory awareness event takes place on the ground floor of the council’s Number One Riverside building on Wednesday 14 August from 10am - 3pm.
