Carnegie-nominated author Bridget Blankley will be hosting a very special workshop, delving into the techniques and craft behind writing short stories and flash fiction.

Bridget’s debut novel, The Ghosts and Jamal, was published in 2018 to much critical acclaim, and earned her a nomination for the prestigious Carnegie Medal. She grew up in the Nigerian bush listening to stories and eventually making up her own.

Bridget has won a number of awards for her short story writing, including The Woman I Admire Writing Award 2018, Hammond House Short Story Prize 2017 and was shortlisted for the Alpine Fellowship and the Thomas Gray Memorial Poetry Prize.

Suitable for: Ages 14+

The festival box office is located at Touchstones Rochdale. Open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm.

Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival is aimed at celebrating and promoting the Maskew Collection of classic literature and philosophy at Rochdale Central Library, encouraging people to engage with books and ideas. Rochdale couple, Annie and Frank Maskew, met in Rochdale Library in the 1950s and shared a passion for reading and thinking. They left a sum of money to be used on resources and events related to literature and philosophy to ensure classic works are available for future generations.
