David Lloyd Clubs and Hopwood Hall College new youth employment partnership

Date published: 28 July 2017

Fitness and leisure business David Lloyd Clubs and Hopwood Hall College opened a new youth employment partnership together.

The idea behind the partnership is to give people from local areas who are looking to study and then break into the health and fitness industry, the best possible chance to find employment.

Students studying at Hopwood Hall Fitness Academy will have the opportunity to gain work experience at David Lloyd’s facilities with potential employment coming after that.

Following a trial work experience period, all of the students will be guaranteed an interview, those who have performed well will be offered jobs working within the club.

Student Shannon Wilson has already gained a role at David Lloyd’s Trafford City facility after attending the first introduction held.

Mike Bruns, Hopwood Hall Programme Manager for Uniformed Public Services Fitness Academy,  said:“This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to work at the top end of the leisure industry in such a renowned establishment.

“Having come number 21 in the Sunday Times’ Top 30 Best Companies to work for, I’m really confident this will be a venture that can provide great opportunities for both young and mature students.”

David Lloyd Clubs operates in over 100 locations across the UK and Europe.

Jake French, general manager at David Lloyd, opened the partnership with an introductory talk at David Lloyd Trafford City to Level two and three Fitness Academy Students, he said: “This is an exciting new venture where we can support local colleges in providing employment during and after education, we haven’t run an interaction of this kind before with any other college or training provider.

“We’re big believers in promoting the right talent and by working with Hopwood Hall to identify their best students, it gives us an advantage when trying to employ the best candidates from across Greater Manchester.”
