Children's hospice chosen as shopping centre’s charity for 2019

Date published: 20 February 2019

The Middleton Shopping Centre’s Charity for 2019 is Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and throughout the year, events will be organised to raise much needed funds and awareness for this charity and, in particular, for Grace’s Place.

Grace’s Place in Dumers Lane, Radcliffe, is part of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and cares for children with life shortening conditions in the Bury, Rochdale and Oldham areas and gives support for their families.

Carla McBride, Fundraiser, Grace’s Place said: “Forget Me Not is a charity which already runs a Huddersfield-based children’s hospice, which is rated as ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.

“Children’s hospices are all we do.

“We’re not big and corporate; we’re small and caring, and we love to show new and better ways to do things. Grace’s Place offers the same fantastic care and support as at Huddersfield.

“Whatever you thought a children’s hospice might be like, that’s not us.

“We’ve created a place of comfort and calm, as well as fun and laughter.

“A place where children can play, while mums and dads relax, supported by an experienced and highly qualified care team. And a place where all the family can enjoy precious moments together.

Anna Ramsden, Manager of the Middleton Shopping Centre said: “We will be working hard this year to try to raise as much money as possible for this very worthwhile children’s charity.

“We plan to start straight away and will make sure collection buckets are out this Wednesday when we have a Dino Day for children on their Half Term Break.

“With the prospect of a 13ft T-Rex in the Centre and Dino Craft Workshops, we anticipate that this event will draw a lot of families to the Middleton Shopping Centre and we are hoping that our visitors will dig deeply into their pockets and donate to Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

“We will also be organising a major event for One Great Day in June.”
