Changes at Swansway Group car dealer

Date published: 06 June 2019

Swansway Motor Group car dealer has announced that it will no longer be running the Honda franchise at its site on Queensway, Rochdale.

Swansway which runs the dealership, has relinquished the Honda franchise but will now expand the site into a Swansway Motor Match used car centre.

The majority of the Swansway Honda Rochdale team will either remain at the site or move to Swansway Honda sites in Bolton and Stockport.

Swansway director, David Smyth said: “As a family-owned business, with over 50 years in the industry, we’ve had to make some difficult decisions with regard to our Honda dealerships.

“Swansway originally operated four Honda dealerships serving the Greater Manchester area, in Bolton, Manchester, Rochdale and Stockport. Honda’s representation plans for the UK, have led us to evaluate the viability of running four sites, leading to the consolidation of our Honda dealerships from four to two, in Bolton and Stockport.”

Swansway Honda customers will be able to take their cars into either the Bolton or Stockport dealerships for service or repair, with the business offering to collect and drop-off customer’s cars if they prefer not to travel.

David added: “I want to stress that Swansway remains committed to the Rochdale area and whilst we will no longer be operating a Honda franchise, the Swansway Motor Match business will be expanded, and we look forward to continuing to serve the people of Rochdale.”
