Owners of the Oldham Road restaurant wanted to 'bring the outdoors indoors', with the dining area resembling a fresh botanical garden through added greenery and plants
La Scala restaurant on Oldham Road has been relaunched after a successful refurbishment.
An Italian restaurant serving both traditional and modern dishes, diners were able to sit in new ‘stylish modern surroundings’ at the official re-opening night on Friday 29 October.
A low-key event, it was a chance for the business to showcase its new menu offering including all the ‘favourite, authentic Italian’ dishes and brand-new specials, as well as an extensive new cocktail range added to the drinks menu.
Inspiration for the refurbishment came following the lockdowns during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. As everyone had been stuck indoors for so long, the restaurant owners had a vision of bringing the outdoors into the premises, with the dining area resembling a fresh botanical garden through added greenery and natural plants.
To make the magic happen, the restaurant closed for four days from Monday 25 to Thursday 28 October.
The local business was established over seven years ago but the current owners, Erisa Mane and her husband, head chef, Tony, originally from Italy, took over two years ago in 2019 just before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.
Erisa, who lives in Heywood, said: “We would just like to say a massive thank you to all our customers, new and old, who have supported us for the past seven years.
“As a local business, lockdown hit us particularly hard and if it wasn’t for the support of our loyal customers throughout this period, the refurbishment would not be possible. During this time, we moved our tables outside trying to keep some normality alive and it was this which inspired us to create the feeling of bringing the outdoors in for our refurbishment.
“We would like to thank Caravaggio Interiors, especially Sam, for being able to make our wishes come true.
“As well as the new look, we have added some exciting dishes and drinks to our food and cocktail menus, whilst still providing the authentic Italian food our customers crave.
“Thank you to everyone who visited us for our relaunch evening and for all your lovely wishes and feedback.”
