Archbold Logistics report record year

Date published: 09 August 2022

Archbold Logistics, the Heywood-based logistics and distribution specialist, has reported a significant increase in business in 2021 with its turnover reaching £25 million.

The company has seen a confident return both during and since the Covid pandemic and has achieved higher than expected figures in both turnover and profit in the 12 months to December 2021.

The company’s turnover increased by 49% from £16.8 million to £25 million with the gross profit margin being maintained at 20% of turnover.

This led to the company reporting a pre-tax profit at £1.7 million for this financial year, which is significantly up from the prior year's pre-tax figure of £400,000.

Over the same period, the company’s balance sheet saw net assets increase to £3.2 million from £1.4 million in the previous reporting period.

Archbold Logistics also undertook a significant investment of over £500,000 in their equipment in the year to December 2021. This spend was to upgrade elements of the company’s fleet as well as ensuring that the company’s carbon emissions were minimised.

Over the same timeframe, the company also invested heavily in their nationwide teams, which has led to a head count of over 125 employees based across all the company’s facilities and depots. These additional staff can better support the company’s increased business growth which continues into this financial year and shows no signs of abating.

Alan Maher, managing director of Archbold Logistics, said: “We are delighted to be able to report such healthy financial figures and it shows a significant bounce back prior to the Covid period. The financial performance of the company has resulted from our continued focus on delivering a high-quality service to our customers of all sizes and across all sectors. It is also testament to the committed efforts of all our staff and colleagues over the last year.”

Archbold Logistics is a distribution specialist with specific expertise within retail, foodstuffs, automotive and paper markets. The company also has a track record in dealing with more 'difficult' shipping requirements, including urgent deliveries and global consignments.
