Rochdale Exchange pop-up cinema to return in April

Date published: 30 March 2018

Families from across Rochdale are set for a week of entertainment during the school holidays, as the town’s shopping centre is gearing up to re-open its pop-up cinema featuring a full programme of fun family favourites.

Following Rochdale Exchange’s massive cinema success in 2017, the free movie screen will be returning from Friday 6 April to Sunday 15 April to show a whole host of popular children’s flicks, including Cars 3, Paddington 2 and Captain Underpants.

The centre’s cinema, which will be located opposite River Island, will play nine different films throughout the week at 11am and 2pm each day.

Lorenzo O’Reilly, Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre manager, said he couldn’t wait to welcome parents and their children back to the pop-up cinema during the school holidays. “Our first pop-up cinema last year was a huge success with more than 1,500 people coming along to enjoy the film fun and many of our retailers selling out of popcorn, so we’re ecstatic to see it return in April.

“The first weekend of the event will kick off on Friday 6 April with a showing of Cars 3 at 11am and then a screening for Paddington 2 at 2pm. The pop-up cinema will then be open until Sunday 8 April before re-opening from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 April,” Lorenzo added.

Every shopper who spends in a Rochdale Exchange store will have the opportunity to enter the cinema for free. “To enjoy a screening of their choice, all shoppers have to do is present their receipt to a steward, with a minimum spend of £1, to receive a ticket.

“We hope everyone has a fantastic time at Rochdale’s Exchange pop-up cinema and we look forward to seeing everyone enjoy their favourite family films.”

*The special cinema will be open at Rochdale Exchange between Friday 6 and Sunday 15 April with showings at 11am and 2pm each day. To attend a screening shoppers need to present a receipt from any Rochdale Exchange store to the cinema team. A valid receipt entitles entry for to up to two adults and two children or one adult and three children.
