Children’s minds get ticking with Explore Learning at Rochdale Exchange

Date published: 27 April 2018

An award-winning tuition centre has been keeping youngsters occupied during the school holidays with free, interactive workshops at the town’s shopping centre.

On Wednesday 11 April, Explore Learning headed to Rochdale Exchange to present fun and exciting sessions linked to maths and English including non-cursive handwriting, grammar, punctuation, creative writing and exam preparation.

After great success, the educational organisation, which specialises in tutoring children between five and 14, will be returning to the shopping centre on Saturday 28 April and Saturday 12 May between 10am and 4pm.

Assistant Director of Oldham’s Explore Learning, Lizzie Whittle, said it has been a delight to team up with Rochdale Exchange to keep youngsters’ minds ticking while they’re not at school.

She said: “Here at Explore Learning, we believe the brain is a muscle, the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets, so we love visiting local communities to run our free educational workshops out of school time,” she said.

“The first session at Rochdale Exchange was great, with lots of children of all ages coming along to take part in particular, youngsters enjoyed our creative writing session as it was all about the National Young Writers’ Award, where children were invited to tell us a story, in 500 or less, about one of their heroes.”

Explore Learning will return to the shopping centre on selected weekends in April and May. “We love delivering these workshops and seeing children have fun and learn along the way, so all of us at the centre are really looking forward to running another series of sessions to local children on 28 April and 12 May.”

Lorenzo O’Reilly, Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre manager, said it has been great to be able to team up with Explore Learning.

He said: “The tuition centre is of real value to families not only in Oldham, but across Rochdale too and we’re thrilled that they have been able to deliver such brilliant maths and English workshops at the centre.

“The team at Explore Learning do a brilliant job getting children as young as five on the journey to success with tutoring in phonetics, grammer and much more as well as extra help with preparing for exams for older children.

“We were thrilled to see so many children enjoying the free interactive sessions last week and we look forward to welcoming Explore Learning back to Rochdale Exchange in a few weeks time.”
