Find your perfect business opportunity at Heywood Magic Market

Date published: 07 July 2020

A number of exciting business opportunities are now available at the historic Heywood Magic Market.

Set in the heart of Heywood, the market has enjoyed hundreds of years of trading since it is believed to have opened in the 1800s. Over the last 18 years, since the launch of Heywood Magic Development Trust, the market has seen vast improvements, and has exciting and ambitious plans for continued upgrades in the future.

Currently open three days a week, the board is looking to extend this in the future to four days.

After many years of success, the market’s card and gift stall owner is retiring, and managers now have her unit available, which offers an exciting opportunity with a large affordable retail space.

Recent newcomers onto the market include Cakes & Bakes, located on the old Snack Attack stall, where you can purchase a lovely afternoon tea or platters to share, or a simple sandwich,  as well as delicious quality cream cakes – all freshly made each day. To snap up a platter, call Francesca on 07938 349 169 or 07307 079 594.

Hats & Accessories have now established themselves within the market, with lots of lovely reviews on social media. Anthony Peter Events and Party Supplies faces the florist and is there to plan and organise your special occasion, with the priority of making it perfect!

Chair and local resident Susan Coates said: “Supporting local businesses has never been more important. We are extremely lucky to have this facility on our doorstep to offer the opportunity for local people to support local trade, and to give local people the chance of developing their own business, and providing a springboard to their success.

"We all face difficult times with Covid-19, and the board and manager are doing their upmost to assist traders as much as they possibly can, giving all traders free rent two weeks prior to lockdown, when footfall was beginning to decline due to the pandemic. We are all in this together.

"To fit within social distancing guidelines, we have applied various safety measures throughout the market, to ensure the public and our traders are safe, this is our main priority.  We have extended the seating area of our cafés, at no extra cost to the owners, so visitors can sit social distanced, creating a safer environment, and we are staggering the amount of people going into the market. Hand sanitisers can be found around the building.

"We have plans to continue to improve the market’s facilities, increase footfall and welcome a new generation of shoppers, now is the ideal time to launch a business here, with low overheads and watch it thrive."

Availability is immediate with incentives, and there are lots of opportunities for lots of trades, including pop up/ casual stalls.
