Letter: Potholes in Norden

Date published: 23 February 2018

Dear Editor,

Further to your recently published letter from Mrs. Alty, I hope that I am able to offer some reassurance to her and other residents and commuters concerns about the standard of the surface of Edenfield Road in Norden.

I agree that the surface of the road is in need of repair and that is why the length of the highway through the village has been approved for resurfacing in highways forthcoming works schedule.

Myself and councillors Holly and Gartside are in regular communication with our Borough’s Highways Officers and we were all delighted to be able to support this substantial scheme at the recent Rochdale Township meeting.

Thanks to almost £100,000 of capital investment the works will see this busy road restored, from Tenterhill to the end of the dual carriageway at Passmonds.

This comes amidst a significant number of other repairs which have been made to our roads over the past two years thanks to increased government funding specifically for highways infrastructure improvements.

As we are all aware this is a very busy commuter route, used by thousands of vehicles every day, therefore we have asked that careful consideration is taken with the scheduling of these works so that they can be done with the least disruption possible to those people who rely on this road on a day to day basis.
