Letter: Ashamed that this is how our council behaves

Date published: 13 March 2018

Dear Editor,

On 10/10/17 I was working for a charity, driving one of our vans, looking after six adults with learning difficulties as well as physical disabilities.

I parked at Hollingworth Lake Visitor Centre in a disabled parking bay.

Our van is clearly labelled as a disabled persons charity and is a blue badge holders vehicle, but I forgot to display our badge.

I got a ticket and last week, almost five months after appealing the ticket, I heard the appeal had been rejected.

I find it appalling that the appeal was rejected on a technicality.

If our vehicle was an unmarked car then fair enough but for the council to show no compassion or understanding I feel is disgusting.

I work in Halifax but live in Littleborough and feel ashamed that this is how our council behaves for the sake of a few pounds.

I won't be bringing any more groups to our area which is a shame.
