Letter: Sir Isaac Newton Way - a dangerous speedway

Date published: 12 July 2018

Dear Editor,

I'm writing to let you know that Sir Isaac Newton Way, and the service roads supporting the business park, have become a dangerous speedway.

At all times, day and night, cars and bikes speed up and down these roads continually, seemingly without any risk of anything being done by the police.

As a local resident I can hear cars wheel spinning and doing donuts in the business park long in to the night.

Young men in high powered Mercedes AMG cars and BMW M cars are flying up and down this road all the time. It's insane.

Because the road connects directly to the motorway, drivers also continue to drive at 70 mph plus down this road.

As a regular user of this road, I see absolutely ridiculous antics nearly every day, including stupid speeds, dangerous overtaking and multiple cars racing.

High powered motorbikes run circuits for hours on end.

The road is a popular crossing for children going to the park, young families out for walks and horses using the bridleways.

It's only a matter of time before someone gets killed.

This road desperately needs some policing.

I've literally never seen a police car on this road or any speed traps.

What are the local police doing?
