Emma Rhodes fundraising to fly dog to UK

Date published: 11 May 2017

Emma Rhodes is trying to raise £570 to fly a dog from Tenerife to the UK.

The canine is identical to one who brought her love when Emma, from Rochdale, used to live in Tenerife, where she helped Live Arico rescue and rehome dogs.

One special dog, Scooby, came into her life, who would eventually lead Emma to meet her husband, Luke, following an appeal on social media.

Emma explained: “Luke’s mum commented on his picture and fell in love with him. She decided she wanted to adopt him in the UK so we started to fundraise. She tagged her whole family in Scooby’s pictures and mine and Luke’s path began.”

Emma says a ‘very kind man’ donated money for Scooby to fly to the UK. Whilst the dog was under quarantine, she moved back to the UK and met Luke before moving to live with him.

She continued: “Scooby arrived a month later to live with Luke’s mum and we enjoyed many walks with him and I was so happy. Sadly, Scooby is no longer with us and not a day has gone past where I have not thought about him.

“But recently I was hit hard as when I was scrolling through the numerous dogs on my feed all looking for a home. Live Arico have posted this beautiful girl who is identical to Scooby and the same age as Scooby was when he came to the UK.

“Everything about her is basically Scooby. I got a sick feeling and I know this is fate. As Luke and I are beginning our new chapter into married life, she pops up and it all just feels like fate.”

Emma is now determined to raise the £570 needed for the dog to fly to the UK. She will also need approximately £80 for further preparations including a passport and vaccinations.

She added: “If anyone can help with costs, I will be eternally grateful and will do anything for your help and support. I have done it before and I will do it again to get her to the UK.”
