Beech House School

Date published: 15 June 2017

In the North of England ISA Athletics finals held in Manchester Beech House finished 15th. Congratulations go to Anais Aston who has been selected to represent the North of England in the National Finals.

Beech House played four matches at the Year 8 Rounders tournament and improved with each game. Three wins were recorded in their opening tournament, so Mr Bateman was extremely proud!

A 2.5 - 3 defeat in the opening game versus Hollingworth showed that Beech House has what it takes to form an organised, structured rounders team, particularly in the field. The game was really close and could have gone either way.

In the second game Beech House won 5.5 - 4 against Cardinal Langley. The team were far more assertive in their running when batting which meant that it was a comfortable win. More strong running, combined with quality, restrictive fielding, saw Beech House win their remaining games, 6 - 3.5 against Siddal Moor and 5.5 - 1 against MIddleton Technology.

An excellent start to the season.

During the past term, Year 4 have been learning all about ‘Electricity’; where it comes from, how it is made and what materials make the best conductors and insulators. They have used all of their knowledge to create functioning circuits and have been working extremely hard on designing and making a ‘Buzz Wire’ game, in which they have to move a target around a wire, without completing the circuit and setting the buzzer off. The children have learnt a great deal and had immense fun also. Well done!
