Animal Quackers Farm

The children in the Nursery went to Animal Quackers Farm in Bacup.

They got to pet baby rabbits, rats and kittens.

Farmer Terry gave them lots of facts about how the animals live and what they like to eat.

They then went outside into the farmyard where they saw ducks and geese, and fed some goats. Other animals they saw were, snakes, a tortoise, a bull, pigs and piglets, deer, a llama, an alpaca and emus.

Mrs Grange especially enjoyed the snake!

The children had lots of fun meeting all the animals, and really enjoyed pet-ting and feeding them.

Chester Zoo

Reception to Year 2 went to Chester Zoo on an end of term trip. Although the weather was not great the children still had a great time.

The children saw lots of animals from huge elephants to tiny poisonous dart frogs.

In the morning, the group saw lots of birds in the bird house and some of the new baby macaques and a family of orang-utans swinging around their home.

They then stopped for lunch and sheltered from the rain. Some of the
children even enjoyed a trip along the lazy river cruise after lunch.

Luckily the weather cleared up after lunch and the animals came outside so we could all see them. The brave ones even ventured into the fruit bat cave.

We then wondered past the lions and had a few minutes to play in the ad-venture park.

Finally, after a long day of walking we made it back to the buses. Even some of the teachers were ready to nap on the way home.

Exhibition Centre, Liverpool

Pupils from Year 8 went to the Exhibition Centre, Liverpool to showcase their Crest projects as part of the Big Bang Science and Engineering
competition.

As usual the competition was tough but 'The Boys' managed to get short listed for a prize with their project on 'Which is the bouncier ball and on which surface?'

Unfortunately to no avail. The pupils really enjoyed the whole experience. Best of luck to next year's Year 8.

Brabyns Football World Cup Tournament

At the Brabyns Football World Cup Tournament held at the Trafford Centre, both the under 9 and under 7 teams finished third.

Leigh Sports Village

Leigh Sports Village was the venue for a competitive and fun day out. Beech House School were placed in Pool 2 alongside 5 other schools. Brandon Stephens, Harry Ashton and Sophie Wilkinson were representing the school in Boccia.

The school started well with a comfortable 3-0 win over Hesketh.

This was followed by a 1-1 draw with Shevington, which was really close.

A defeat at the hands of Ashton, who finished runners up, was a blow, and the team could only follow up with a draw against Rumworth. Beech House were victorious in a must-win-match against Hawkley Hall, 2-0, but it was-n't enough.

Some demolition from Harry and fine throwing from Sophie just wasn't enough, as Beech House just missed out and were runners up on goal
difference.
