Police warn residents to be vigilant

Residents in Wardle are being warned to be vigilant after a man was observed trying door handles in the early hours.

A police spokesperson said: “Early this morning, Friday 18 August, at approximately 5:30am, and a man was observed trying door handles to properties on Joseph Lister Drive, Wardle.

“Thieves want a quick way in your house and quick way out.

“Please ensure your property is secure before you go to bed.

“Check all your doors and windows are locked/secure.

“Don't forget to also check your vehicle is secure and take house and vehicle keys upstairs with you each night and keep them hidden from view.

“Be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.”

Rochdale Police received 62 calls from the public reporting incidents on Thursday night/early hours of Friday morning.
