Clear out your cupboards to help Springhill Hospice

Date published: 20 September 2017

Springhill Hospice is asking for people to donate any unwanted gifts, chocolates, bottles, toys or household items whilst they are preparing for the Christmas period so that the charity can utilise the donations as tombola and raffle prizes for their Christmas Fair later on this year.

The Hospice Christmas Fair, which takes place on Sunday 19 November, will transform the building and grounds of Springhill Hospice into a Winter Wonderland with over 60 stalls and, of course, an appearance from Father Christmas himself.

Every year thousands of pounds are raised at Hospice fairs, all of which is spent on patient care. But without the help and support of the general public none of this would be possible.

Events and Corporate Fundraiser, Sophie Ansley is making a plea to the people in the local community to donate items to the Hospice to help them raise money.

She said: “It is the end of the summer holidays, there is a hint of autumn in the air and it is at this time of year that I start clearing out my cupboards to prepare for the festive season. I always end up with bags of nearly new items that have hardly been used and what better way to utilise them than to donate them to Springhill Hospice.

"This year we are particularly looking for boxes of chocolates and small soft toys for our chocolate tombola stall, bottles of drinks that may be collecting dust in your cupboards and any unwanted gifts, toiletries, toys or bric-a-brac that may be cluttering up your home.”

Please label any donations ‘Christmas Fair’ and drop them off at Springhill Hospice reception, Springhill Tea Room and Gift Shop or any of the Hospice’s charity shops:
