Deeplish Community Centre delivers NADRA surgery in partnership with Consulate General of Pakistan

Deeplish Community Centre delivered a NADRA surgery in partnership with Consulate General of Pakistan on Saturday 28 October.

Families from all over the Rochdale borough attended the surgery to renew and apply for NADRA ID cards, which are valid for ten years and act as visa cards whilst travelling to Pakistan.

Deputy Mayor Mohammed Zaman attended the NADRA surgery, where he welcomed consulate officers and supported local community members. He oversaw the arrangements, organisation and delivery of it and thanked consulate staff in providing this outreach service to local community.

He said: “It is always good to see Deeplish Community Centre providing help and services to the local community in much organised environment.”

The surgery was also attended by senior officials, local councillors and representatives from the community.

Councillor Aasim Rashid said: “We welcome newly appointed Consul General Mr. Muhammad Aamar Aftab Qureshi. We also welcome newly appointed NADRA manager Mr. Qaiser Mahmood at Consulate office. It’s always good to see consulate officers reaching out to local community to help and support community members."

Feza Niazi, Community Welfare attaché from the Consulate General of Pakistan, said: “I am pleased to see the local community centre working in partnership with our team in delivering diplomatic services to their door step. I am also impressed with local community members’ feedback and impact of this service within the community.”

Senior Diplomatic Officer Mohammed Tahir said: “Our purpose is to serve our community and support them in their issues relating to NADRA cards, emergency visas and attestations and verification of documents. NADRA and Consulate services are there to help elderly people, children and families who have mobility issues and so are unable to travel to main offices. We come to Deeplish Community which is at the heart of local community and we provide services at people’s door steps.”

Sohail Ahmad, Operations Manager at Deeplish Community Centre, said: "We are proud to support surgeries and are thankful to the Consulate General of Pakistan consulate team, especially senior official Tahir Mohammed in visiting elderly people at their homes to verify documents and provide them with services at their door steps.

“We also appreciate our local councillors’ efforts including Deputy Mayor Mohammed Zaman and Councillors Aasim Rashid, Allen Brett and Sameena Zaheer, plus centre staff efforts and support in guiding the local community to take up this valuable service.”
