Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 19 January 2018

We have started Booster class and we are really pleased with the attitude and attendance of the Year 6. Thanks to all parents for their support in getting the children here early and picking them up late.

Reading destinations continues to motivate our children. Thank you to all parents for all your help in reading with your children each night and signing in their record book. They collect kilometres towards different destinations each time they read and are trying to visit as many places around the world as possible. This is a real team effort and we are already seeing the benefits of the extra reading. Keep up the good work.

The anti-bullying policy has been revised and updated and is now on the school website. It now includes specific references to the “protected characteristics” that we aim to educate the children around to prevent specific cases of targeted bullying. Please take the time to read the update on our website. Thank you.

Take care in extreme weather and we ask parents to make sure the children are well wrapped up with appropriate footwear.

On Thursday 25 January Reception children will be visiting the Smallbridge Library. They will have the opportunity to not only look at different books, but to see things in our environment on the walk there and back. Nursery will also be going on Thursday 1st February. Please can parents make sure that all children have a suitable coat and footwear.

We are asking if any parents have any old Apple Iphone’s (doesn’t matter how old) they don’t use anymore. As you may know, money is of a premium in school and they would be extremely useful for our Foundation Unit to be able to record observations of the children in the unit. Please bring them to the school office; it would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Please can any parents contact school on Monday who still want to assist in our Walk to School route audit on Tuesday morning at 9.00am and also if parents have complained about the subway in the past, this is the chance to take action and help get some results
