Nervous novices complete Manchester Marathon

Date published: 10 April 2018

Three members of Redwood Secondary School have completed a gruelling 26.2 mile run for charity.

Alison Higginbottom, Jacqui Stanners & Sam Doggett took on the Manchester Marathon on Sunday 8 April, to raise money for Red-Aid, a small Rochdale-based charity raising money for the relief of children aged up to 19 who have a learning disability.

They respectively completed the challenge with times of 06:11:04, 05:37:55 and 06:11:05.

Sam said: “We found it hard as none of us are regular runners, but the amazing people of Manchester cheered us on and fed us jelly babies, making sure we made it to the end.

“We are still a couple of hundred pounds off our fundraising target of £1,000 and would appreciate any additional donations.”

Donations can be made by texting 70070 followed by REDA10 and the amount you’d like to donate - £1, £2, £4, £5 or £10.
