Tanya Kennedy named Volunteer Champion for National Charity
Tanya Kennedy has won the Volunteer Champion award for Revitalise, a charity which provides breaks for disabled people and carers.
The Revitalise Volunteer Champion award recognises the work that volunteers contribute to the guest and carers who holiday with the charity. Tanya was praised for her great maturity during her placement.
Tanya, 16, a former pupil at St Cuthbert’s RC High School in Rochdale, said of her award win: “I was extremely shocked but really happy and proud to hear that I had won the award. It was great to be involved with the charity and I am looking forward to returning in August to do more work with them.”
Tanya, who spent a week at Sandpipers in Southport, says the opportunity has increased her confidence and improved her communication skills.
During her placement, the Bury College student helped to care for the service users by serving meals and assisting people to eat and helping on daytrips and attending to specific needs of individuals.
