Rochdale AFC inspires local children

Date published: 20 July 2018

Dale In The Community Sports Trust, in conjunction with the Premier League Primary Stars Kit and Equipment Scheme, has been helping to inspire local children.

The Scheme, run in partnership with Nike, gives schools the opportunity to get their hands on either a Nike football kit or a range of equipment that can be used across the curriculum to get children active.

Greenbank Primary School (pictured), St Margaret’s and Healey Primary School were nominated to receive football kits, having supported the Premier League Primary Stars programme that the Community Trust have been delivering in their schools.

Rebecca Wilkinson, a teacher at Greenbank Primary, said: “We would like to thank Rochdale AFC and the Community Trust for helping us with the opportunity to receive new football kits through the Premier League Primary Stars Programme.

“The children were thrilled when they arrived and couldn’t wait to wear them straight away for their match that week! Greenbank Primary School football team has had their most successful season this year and they have loved wearing their new kits with pride.”

The Primary Stars Programme aims to increase children’s participation and enjoyment in sport and physical activity in targeted schools.

Schools get the opportunity to have in-school delivery, plus access to the Primary Stars website where teachers will find a huge range of resources that they can gain access to.

Any school that is interested in taking part of the programme please contact Siobhan McElhinney on 07921622578, or email siobhan.mcelhinney@rochdaleafc.co.uk
