Traffic survey for ‘dangerous’ junction

Bury Road junction with Roch Valley Way
A traffic survey has been agreed to try and improve pedestrian safety at a 'dangerous' junction.
Many residents have expressed fears that the crossroads at the junction of Bury Road, Roch Valley Way and Sandy Lane is an accident waiting to happen.
Residents on both sides of Bury Road are reluctant to cross over to use the shops at Oulder Hill or to go to bus stops nearby.
After listening to the concerns of local residents, funding for the survey was secured by ward councillors Pat Sullivan, Jane Howard and Angela Smith.
Councillor Smith said: “The only safe crossing place along this stretch of Bury Road is the one at Oulder Hill.
“Many people signed a petition and wrote us earlier in the year, and as a result of this, funding for a traffic survey has been agreed and officers are going to investigate what can be done to make the junction safe for pedestrians.
“We are keen to see the results of the survey so that work can begin on improving safety in this area.”
