The town centre strewn with sludge and debris
The flood waters in Rochdale town centre have abated leaving sludge and debris strewn all across town.
Business owners in town have been contacting Rochdale Online very angry at what they perceive to be an inadequate response from the Council, one business owner said: "If the situation was being monitored, then why were none of the businesses on Smith Street notified of immediate flooding?
"At 7am there was a red alert on the news. No council officials were anywhere to be seen whilst I spent several hours up to my waist in water at work."
Asked two weeks ago about concerns of potential flooding in town, the Council had said: "We are continually monitoring the situation..."
It is understood a council-led clean up of the town centre will start on Sunday.
