Pupils from St Edward's C of E Primary School in Rochdale rolled up their sleeves and tied on their aprons this week to take part in a cottage pie masterclass.
The pupils mashed, chopped, blended and baked to create the perfect cottage pie.
The masterclass event was part of the ‘Big Cookathon 2016’, launched by The Children’s Food Trust and the Tesco Eat Happy Project to help teach children about how to prepare and cook food, while learning about the origins of their favourite meals.
During the weekend of 22 – 25 April 2016, groups across the country - including school children, families and members of the Women’s Institute - will hit their kitchens to make even more cottage pies for the ‘Big Cookathon 2016’.
The ‘Big Cookathon’ is in its eighth year and aims to get families cooking nutritious and easy recipes from scratch, instead of opting for expensive ready meals or unhealthy takeaways. The ‘Big Cookathon’ encourages families to sit down to dinner together and savour the quality time meals can provide.
