Walk and Ride Festival: An event for everyone

Date published: 01 August 2016

The South Pennines is a playground for everyone; all ages and interests. This September the South Pennines’ Walk and Ride Festival will again showcase this stunning landscape through nearly 150 events for foot, wheel and hoof.

Starting on Saturday 10 September and running through to Sunday 25 September, this year’s festival, managed by rural regeneration company Pennine Prospects, brings together everything from historical graveyard tours to Happy Valley walks.

“We have something for everyone this year,” explained Adele Adams, Walk and Ride Festival Co-ordinator. “Whether you’re a seasoned walker, a keen cyclist or someone wanting to try a new activity or sport we’ll have an event for you.”

Explore 17 graves of local men all of whom were involved in the early development of the co-operative movement in Rochdale and whose actions changed the world with a walk around Rochdale Cemetery, a Nordic Walk to Hollingworth Lake or Blackstone Edge Old Road Heritage Walk.
