Demonstration around the proposed development site in Bamford

Date published: 03 January 2017

A demonstration ramble/walk around the proposed development site in Bamford is to take place on Saturday 7 January.

The demonstration will start at Bamford Village Green at 10.30am and finishing at Bamford Chapel for refreshments.

Anne Shorrock, Founding Member of Bamford Green Belt Action Group, said: “Bamford is different to most of the other sites as well as filling our greenbelt with houses it will leave Bamford with no community amenities as we will lose the football pitch, tennis courts and the cricket field.

“Norden has Jubilee Park, Heritage Green and Hutchinson Road Recreation Park, Spotland has Denehurst Park, but if the site in Bamford is taken, we will be left with nothing for recreational pursuits.

“There is no earthly reason why building more houses in Bamford will help the Northern Powerhouse or the Greater Manchester Spatial Strategy, it will ruin the rural atmosphere we have developed over the years.”
