Heywood stands united with Manchester with vigil after Arena atrocity

Date published: 24 May 2017

Heywood stood united for the victims of the Manchester Arena atrocity on Tuesday evening (23 May).

Father Paul Daly led a moving service for hundreds who turned out.

Local musician David Woodman sung a song he had composed in response to the attack, 'Stay Strong Our Kid'.

Marian Corns said: “A moving and well attended act of love and remembrance for those killed and injured just nine miles away.

“Also to say thanks to all those who are involved in looking after the survivors and those who are protecting us all, everywhere.”

Lauren Sullivan said: “Fantastic to see so many Heywood people attending the memorial service standing strong and supporting the people of Manchester who were hurt, injured or lost their lives in the horrendous terror attack.

“The message was clear - as Martin Luther King once said, 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that'.”
