Street Eat: Great food, music, laughter and fun

With a carnival atmosphere, Rochdale town centre was a place for families to enjoy excellent local food, music and entertainment on Saturday (27 May).

Hundreds of people of all ages came together to enjoy the sunny weather and sample the town’s tastiest food.

Tasty food from the town’s restaurant chefs was served with mouth-watering dishes at £3 each, including Spanish, Italian, English, German, American from La Mancha, Cocka Doodle Moo, The Clock Tower Dining Room, Vicolo de Vino, The Flying Horse Hotel and The Arts Cafe.

Children enjoyed Punch & Judy and fairground rides.

Mark Foxley, Town Centre Manager, said: “It’s great to see so many families enjoying themselves. We wanted to showcase the food available in Rochdale and the result is just fantastic.”

Councillor Andy Kelly said: “What a terrific idea, bringing all the local restaurants and food outlets together and such a great atmosphere.”

Ian Wight said: “This is just tremendous, families enjoying eating together, doesn’t matter whether you like a burger or afternoon tea, there is something for everyone, whatever age you are.”
