Stolen puppy believed to be in Rochdale

Date published: 22 June 2017

A pug/Jack Russell cross puppy stolen from her home in Mossley by armed thugs is believed to be in Rochdale.

Nine-week-old Roxi was taken from her home after three men dressed in black with balaclavas armed with machetes and meat cleavers broke in through the front door around midnight on Tuesday 20 June.

Her owner, Karla Lockwood, said: “I called 999 and Logan [Karla’s partner] went to see what happened. They threw our large, old dog outside and came upstairs. Logan saw them at the top of the stairs with machetes and meat cleavers so ran back into the bedroom and tried to keep the door shut.

“They got in and punched him in the face, pushed him to the ground and held the meat cleaver to his throat demanding ten thousand pounds. Another was on top of me trying to get my phone, but he didn’t as I was kicking and punching too much.

“The third threw Roxi in his jacket and they left.”

The thugs also made off with watches wallets, passports, a driving licence, clothing and an Xbox.

Since the terrifying break-in, Karla has been alerted to three sightings of the black and tan puppy in Rochdale centre.

She said: “She’s been spotted near Ladbrokes [in Rochdale] wrapped in a blue blanket with two men and a woman who was carrying her. She was also spotted around 3-4pm in Rochdale and again at 8pm."

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a burglary at a property on Cecil Street where three men in balaclavas forced their way in and threatened the occupants with meat cleavers. They stole a number of possessions, including a dog, before fleeing the scene.”

If anyone has seen Roxi, please contact Greater Manchester Police on 101 quoting incident number 22 of 20/06/17 or alternatively call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
