Circle celebrates fifth anniversary

Date published: 09 July 2017

Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale Circle (HMR Circle) celebrated its fifth anniversary in style a Rochdale Town Hall.

Over 200 Circle members, staff, volunteers and other agencies filled the Great Hall for the event with entertainment provided by the Haley Sisters.

High tea was laid on by the catering staff of the Town Hall.

Guest of Honour, Mayor Ian Duckworth, spoke to the Circle members as he visited tables before taking to the stage.

Mark Wynn, HMR Circle director, said: “Today has been a fantastic event, and everyone has had an amazing time.

"The Town Hall staff have been fabulous as we have had to work around a TV crew filming ‘Peaky Blinders’, but it has gone without a hitch.

“The success of HMR Circle is down to our members and the support they give each other, and I have to mention the superb team at Circle, Leanne, Kim and David plus the host of volunteers who make everything tick.”

Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale Circle works at connecting older people, reducing social isolation, and having a good time.

Each month HMR Circle organises between 30-40 different social events as well as providing a range of practical support such as cleaning, gardening and various DIY tasks.
