Crime writer Sarah Ward visiting borough to promote critically acclaimed book

Date published: 21 September 2017

Crime writer Sarah Ward will be visiting the borough next week to promote her latest novel in the gripping DC Childs crime series

The critically acclaimed A Patient Fury, Sarah’s third novel in a blossoming literary career, hit the shelves to rave reviews in early September.

Sarah will be visiting Smithy Bridge Library on the afternoon of Tuesday 26 September, before heading to Alkrington Library later in the day, to talk about her work and sign copies of her books.

Tickets for both sessions are just £1, including refreshments, and are redeemable against the cost of a signed book.

The popular DC Childs crime series, which includes earlier novels In Bitter Chill and A Deadly Thaw, is set around the stunning scenery of the Derbyshire Peak District.

Sarah’s debut novel was described as a ‘tense, well-told story of loss and family secrets, with her follow up hailed as ‘relentless in its grip’.

Sarah said: “I am delighted to be coming to Rochdale to promote my latest novel. Libraries have been absolutely fantastic in supporting my novels and I am looking forward to speaking to a new audience about my life, work and inspiration behind my crime series. It should be an inspiring day.”

Councillor Janet Emsley, cabinet member for libraries, said: “Sarah’s novels are real page turners; powerful and gripping with fast moving plot lines. I am delighted she is coming to Rochdale and I would encourage literature lovers across the borough to come along and listen to an author that is really going places.”

Tickets for the events can be booked at the relevant libraries or by phoning Smithy Bridge Library on 01706 378281 or Alkrington Library on 0161 643 7799.

Sarah will be appearing at Smithy Bridge Library from 2pm-3pm and at Alkrington Library from 6pm-7pm on 26 September.
