Men arrested after Heywood stabbing

Date published: 06 November 2017

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding following a stabbing in Heywood - he has been released under investigation.

Three further men – aged 29, 40 and 43 – were also arrested on suspicion of robbery and released under investigation.

Detective Inspector Jo Reid, from GMP’s Rochdale borough, said: “We have arrested a number of people who have been released while we carry out more enquiries to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.

“We believe a man may have come to the aid of the victim of the robbery and we are desperate to speak to this person. If this was you, you are not in any trouble and I would urge you to call police.

“We also need to hear from people who were in the area of Albert Street about 6.30pm that night and may have witnessed something.

“A man was bleeding significantly on what is a busy street in rush hour.

“You might not even realise you did notice something but anything, no matter how small, could be vital to this investigation.

“We’d also ask people with dash-cam footage to get in touch or if you have mobile phone footage too.”

Anyone with any information is urged to call police on 0161 856 8072 quoting incident number 1924 of 10 October 2017. Details can also be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 11.
