Roch Valley Radio shortlisted for National Hospital Radio Award

Local hospital radio station Roch Valley Radio has been shortlisted for an award

The Saturday Breakfast programme from local hospital radio service Roch Valley Radio has been shortlisted for a National Hospital Radio Award.

The segment, presented by Jamie Swain, Nick Roddy and Angela Roddy, has been shortlisted for ‘Best Programme with Multiple Presenters’ alongside nine other shows.

The awards are presented by national charity the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA), who support and promote hospital broadcasting in the UK.

A spokesperson for the station said: “Roch Valley Radio was pleased to find out that the nomination sent to the National Hospital Radio Awards was shortlisted for ‘Best Programme with Multiple Presenters’.

“We would like to thank the volunteers, Jamie Swain, Nick Roddy and Angela Roddy that keeps Saturday Breakfast on the air each week from 9 am until 12 pm broadcasting to Fairfield General Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary.

“Hopefully, they will bag an award on behalf of the station later this year.”

The Roch Valley Radio station, which airs to Rochdale, Bury and the surrounding areas, has been broadcasting from Fairfield General hospital since 2006. It previously operated as ‘Birch Radio’ from premises at Birch Hill Hospital in Littleborough before the site was closed.

The winners will be announced at the HBA Conference in March 2018.
